Prachanda coughs out another joke; says he was offered PM for life


Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has coughed out yet another joke while addressing a mass in Dhangadi. Prachanda, who has developed an image of speaking out whatever comes to his mind at a given time and refuting it the next day or blaming media for distorting it, said on Sunday, he was offered the position of Nepal's Prime Minister for life long during the army chief episode in May. However, he did not disclose from who he had got the offer.

"I was offered the PM for lifelong, but I refused it and resigned," said Prachanda. "I wanted to come to your lap leaving the offer aside. I did not find the PM's seat cosy."

Prachanda had resigned as PM on May 3, last year after President Ram Baran Yadav overruled the decision of his cabinet to sack the then Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rookmangud Katawal.

Police ask for Red Light area in Kathmandu

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has recommended to the government to work out the necessary regulations and stipulate a Red Light Area in Kathmandu to curb sex related crimes.  Speaking at a press conference called to inform journalists of the the campaign Kathmandu police is launching to control sex related crime and illegal sexual activities in Kathmandu, Kathmandu police chief SP Ramesh Kharel said, illegal sexual activities and sex related crime would reduce a lot if a commercial sex was defined by some regulations and designated at some specific places.  Kharel also said, Kathmandu police had intensified operation against illegal sexual activities. It has keep some areas like Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Buspark and Gongabu as hot areas and started keeping vigil in suspicious places.  Commercial sex is being operated in Kathmandu in the veil of massage parlours, dance and cabin restaurents, hotels and guest house and by taking an independent flat.
