Pushpa Kamal Dahal is probably the second most influential person in the present day Nepali politics. Some consider him to be the most influential though. Dahal, more popularly known as Prachanda, is the chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist). He is also the supreme commander of the party's army People's Liberation Army.
A retired senior United Nations official Kul Chandra Gautam has said no UN declaration supports people’s revolt as claimed by chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Former Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, and deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Gautam said, I don’t know any UN charter that supports a people’s revolt, talking to avenues TV Sunday morning.
(NH Reporter, September 20) Maoist affiliated All Nepal Peasants Union (2007) has said it will not return the land seized from leaders and cadres of various political parties and the general public during the conflict until another arrangement is made for the farmers dependent on such land, reports say.
