Introducer of Nepali brail script Jung Bahadur Bogati passes away

Jung Bahadur Bogati, who started the Nepali version of the brail script, has passed away at the age of 70, in Patan, last night. Bogati was rushed to Patan Hospital after he suffered a stroke Thursday night. He died while undergoing treatment the after a few hours. The Nepali version of the brail script introduced by Bogati has enabled thousands of visually impaired persons in Nepal to read and write. Bogati himself was visually impaired. He was born in 1996 Bikram Era.

Former King Gyanendra Shah gets diplomatic passport

Foreign ministry has given a diplomatic passport to former King Gyanendra Shah, Tuesday. The ministry awarded a red passport (diplomatic passport) to Shah with a validity period of one year in capacity of former head of state.

29 DSPs promoted to SP

The home ministry has promoted 29 Deputy Superintendents (DSP)s to the post of Superintendents (SP) of Nepal Police. Home minister Bhim Rawal approved the promotions as recommended by a promotion committee at the ministry, Thursday.

Maoist cadres raising donations from trekkers in Manaslu area

Unified CPN (Maoist) cadres are raising donations for 'the third people's movement' from foreign tourists going for trekking in Manaslu area, in northern Gorkha, reports say. According to Nagarik daily, Maoist cadres affiliated to Tamuwan Rajya Samiti have installed check posts in Thumi and Gumda, the entry points of Manaslu Conservation Area, displaying boards marked Samyukta Jana Krantikari Parishad' (the name of the parallel government declared by the Maoists during conflict), Tamuwan Rajya Samiti. They are raising anything between Rs 3000 to 5000 per person from tourists visiting the area. They ask the tourists to contribute for the 'third people's movement.'  Manaslu area is a protected area and foreign tourists who wish to trek in the area need to obtain a special permit from the Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) with additional tarrif. PM Nepal intensifies meetings

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has intensified consultations to end the political deadlock, Friday. The ultimatum given by the Maoists to address their demands ends today. PM Nepal met with President Ram Baran Yadav at Shital Niwas this morning and UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at his private residence in Koteshwar. The contents of the discussions is not known yet.

Third anniversary of CPA
