PM Nepal intensifies meetings

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has intensified consultations to end the political deadlock, Friday. The ultimatum given by the Maoists to address their demands ends today. PM Nepal met with President Ram Baran Yadav at Shital Niwas this morning and UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at his private residence in Koteshwar. The contents of the discussions is not known yet.

Former APF chief Sahabir Thapa dies

Former Inspector General (IGP) of Armed Police Force (APF) Saha Bir Thapa has died in Kathmandu at the age of 61, Monday evening. Former IGP Thapa passed away at Norvic Hospital while undergoing treatment for his neuro ailments. His body will be kept at APF headquarters, Halchok Tuesday morning for final tribute and the final rites will be performed Tuesday afternoon, family sources said.

SAFF women footballers return home

A team of Nepali women footballers that stood second in SAFF Women's Championship 2012 in  Colombo, Sri Lanka returned Nepal on Tuesday. Officials of All Nepal Football Association welcomed the footballers at Tribhuvan International Airport.  Talking to the journalists at the airport, Kishor KC, coach for Nepali team expressed sadness over the defeat in the final match. "Nepali team could not clinch the title though they did their best to win the match," he said. Nepal had lost 3-1 to India in the final match of the second SAFF Women's Championship 2012 played at CR&FC Grounds, Colombo on Sunday.
