No UN Charter supports people’s revolt: Kul Chandra Gautam



A retired senior United Nations official Kul Chandra Gautam has said no UN declaration supports people’s revolt as claimed by chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Former Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, and deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Gautam said, I don’t know any UN charter that supports a people’s revolt, talking to avenues TV Sunday morning.


Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had said on Saturday, his party would launch a decisive people’s revolt after the festivals, if a consensus was not reached till then, and even the UN would support it.

Gautam urged top political leaders to become more responsible in their expressions and not to create confusion among the people and their cadres.

Dahal could have said so to encourage his cadres, Gautam said. But, it is not appropriate to win support by giving false information, he added.

Police ask for Red Light area in Kathmandu

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has recommended to the government to work out the necessary regulations and stipulate a Red Light Area in Kathmandu to curb sex related crimes.  Speaking at a press conference called to inform journalists of the the campaign Kathmandu police is launching to control sex related crime and illegal sexual activities in Kathmandu, Kathmandu police chief SP Ramesh Kharel said, illegal sexual activities and sex related crime would reduce a lot if a commercial sex was defined by some regulations and designated at some specific places.  Kharel also said, Kathmandu police had intensified operation against illegal sexual activities. It has keep some areas like Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Buspark and Gongabu as hot areas and started keeping vigil in suspicious places.  Commercial sex is being operated in Kathmandu in the veil of massage parlours, dance and cabin restaurents, hotels and guest house and by taking an independent flat.
