Police ask for Red Light area in Kathmandu

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has recommended to the government to work out the necessary regulations and stipulate a Red Light Area in Kathmandu to curb sex related crimes. 

Speaking at a press conference called to inform journalists of the the campaign Kathmandu police is launching to control sex related crime and illegal sexual activities in Kathmandu, Kathmandu police chief SP Ramesh Kharel said, illegal sexual activities and sex related crime would reduce a lot if a commercial sex was defined by some regulations and designated at some specific places. 

Kharel also said, Kathmandu police had intensified operation against illegal sexual activities. It has keep some areas like Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Buspark and Gongabu as hot areas and started keeping vigil in suspicious places. 

Commercial sex is being operated in Kathmandu in the veil of massage parlours, dance and cabin restaurents, hotels and guest house and by taking an independent flat.
