One arrested in Saptari for murdering his wife

Police have arrested one Sunil Kumar Sadaya from Dharampur of Saptari on charges of murdering his own wife, Tuesday. Police have said, thirty-years-old Sadaya murdered his own wife Rajodevi Sadaya, 25, by charging an axe on her neck and arms, while she was sleeping Tuesday morning. He was arrested Tuesday afternoon, almost 12 hours after the incident, from a ground some 1 km away from his home. Police have recovered the blood-stained axe from the incident site. It is not known yet, why Sadaya murdered his own wife. However, police have established Sadaya couple used to fight over various issues in the past too. Neighbours have claimed, Sadaya was drunk at the time of the incident and he killed his wife due to a fight that started with the wife asking her husband not to drink. Sadaya couple have a nine-year old daughter.

Two gangs clash over tender deal

Two gangs, one from Pokhara and the other in Damauli, have fought with each other over a tender deal in Damauli, this afternoon. Police have arrested some 12 persons from both the gangs. Police fired several rounds tear gas canisters and two rounds of bullet in the air to control the gangsters. Over 50 students of nearby Satya Devi High School have been affected due to the tear gas. Some of them have been admitted to hospital. Youths from Pokhara and Damauli had clashed over a tender of Irrigation Department worth Rs 45 million. Getting tenders by threat and using gangsters is common place in Nepal, particularly in government offices. Such incidents have also taken place in the past. Few months ago, there was a shoot out inside the capital's Tri-Chandra College among students over a tender deal on constructing a building in the college.

One person has died when he was buried under a mud-pile in Manamaiju VDC of Kathmandu, Tuesday afternoon.

10 Tibetans arrested from Sino-Nepal border

Nepal Police has arrested ten Tibetan refugees trying to enter Nepal through Lamabagar of Dolakha, Sunday morning. The arrested includes eight men and two women. Police is preparing to hand them over to Chinese officials.

Eight inmates runaway from Kapilvastu jail

Eight inmates serving their jai-term in Kapilvastu prison have fled through an improvised tunnel, last night. They were serving sentences for various charges including  murder, rape, arms and ammunitions. Police were unaware throughout, when the inmates dug a tunnel 2.5 feet wide and 10 feet long. According to Kapilvastu prison, the fleeing inmates Ramjas Murabu, Prabhu Teli and Shrawan Kumar Maurya were serving terms for murder. Likewise, Kedar Sahani, School Miyan Ansari and Bagedo Musalman were serving terms on charge of arms and ammunition. Shanta Kumar Pasi and Santosh Kahar were serving terms for drug peddling. Some fleeing inmates are associated with various armed outfits active in Terai. The prison is housed in an old building built during the Rana regime. Seven inmates had fled from the same prison on August 8.

Deuba could become the next Prime Minister in support of Maoists There are credible reports that Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba could become the next Prime Minister in support of UCPN-Maoist. It has been learnt, Deuba had proposed Maoists to support him as the next Prime Minister. He is planning to acquire the required 301 votes required in the parliament if the Maoists support him. The Maoists have 218 seats in the parliament, while NC has 110 seats. However, not all NC members will support Deuba. However, if the Maoists support him, he can still acquire a 301-majority, at the stake of dispute, possibly a split of his party. He needs to take some fringe parties, too, in confidence for this.
