Trishuli Rafting Festival Kicks Off

A rafting festival organised by a UML sub-ordinate committee to promote Nepal Tourism Year 2011 has kicked off Saturday morning. Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, also the chairman of Nepal
Tourism Council, saw off a team of UML leaders participating in the festival from the premises of Nepal Scouts in Lainchaur this morning.

UML leaders KP Oli and Madhav Nepal will inaugurate the rafting festival from Charaudi later. UML tourism committee organised the festival with an aim to raise awareness about rafting for internal and external tourism.
UML leaders, members of its sister organisations and representatives from other political parties including Nepali Congress and UCPN (Maoist) will participate in the rafting carnival. The organizers have expected about 500 participants to raft in over 60 rafts.

Police ask for Red Light area in Kathmandu

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has recommended to the government to work out the necessary regulations and stipulate a Red Light Area in Kathmandu to curb sex related crimes.  Speaking at a press conference called to inform journalists of the the campaign Kathmandu police is launching to control sex related crime and illegal sexual activities in Kathmandu, Kathmandu police chief SP Ramesh Kharel said, illegal sexual activities and sex related crime would reduce a lot if a commercial sex was defined by some regulations and designated at some specific places.  Kharel also said, Kathmandu police had intensified operation against illegal sexual activities. It has keep some areas like Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Buspark and Gongabu as hot areas and started keeping vigil in suspicious places.  Commercial sex is being operated in Kathmandu in the veil of massage parlours, dance and cabin restaurents, hotels and guest house and by taking an independent flat.
