Kishunji no more
Veteran Nepali Congress leader and two-time Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai passed away at the age of 87 on (day). He breathed his last at the Norvic Hospital, Thapatali, at 11.26 pm while undergoing treatment.
Bhattarai, fondly addressed by his admirers as Kishunji, was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) two weeks earlier after complaining of a number of health complications.
A team of doctors led by the director of the hospital, Dr Bharat Rawat, was involved in his treatment. His lungs and kidneys had stopped working from Thursday, according to doctors.
Crowd Nepali Congress leaders and cadres had started forming at the hospital from Thursday morning itself following reports of Bhattarai's deteriorating health.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal visited him at the hospital on Thursday. Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal also met him evening.
