Khanal again requests UCPN (Maoist) to participate in govt


Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal met Unified CPN (Maoist)chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at his official residence in Baluwatar Saturdaymorning and requested Dahal to forward names from his party to participate inthe government.

PM Khanal requested UCPN (Maoist) to participate in thegovernment despite Maoist Standing Committee's meeting on Friday to abstain fromgovernment.Dahal apprised Khanal of his party's SC decision during themeeting. He also urged Khanal to have his party decide in favour of theseven-point decision.

In response Khanal assured Dahal he would take the issue inthe party for discussion again. UML Central Committee has interpreted theseven-point deal differently than the UCPN (Maoist).PM Khanal has not been able to expand his cabinet due to the ongoing row for almost a month now.

Police ask for Red Light area in Kathmandu

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has recommended to the government to work out the necessary regulations and stipulate a Red Light Area in Kathmandu to curb sex related crimes.  Speaking at a press conference called to inform journalists of the the campaign Kathmandu police is launching to control sex related crime and illegal sexual activities in Kathmandu, Kathmandu police chief SP Ramesh Kharel said, illegal sexual activities and sex related crime would reduce a lot if a commercial sex was defined by some regulations and designated at some specific places.  Kharel also said, Kathmandu police had intensified operation against illegal sexual activities. It has keep some areas like Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Buspark and Gongabu as hot areas and started keeping vigil in suspicious places.  Commercial sex is being operated in Kathmandu in the veil of massage parlours, dance and cabin restaurents, hotels and guest house and by taking an independent flat.
