AISC secretariat members in Shaktikhor to seek combatants’ opinion on integration

A team of Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) Secretariat has
gone to Shaktikhor, Chitwan to seek opinion of former combatants of
the UCPN (Maoist) affiliated People's Liberation Army (PLA) on army
integration and rehabilitation.

The team led by secretariat coordinator Balanand Sharma is visiting
the third division of the PLA Sunday. On Monday, the team had
consulted stakeholders at the district including the Chief District
Officer (CDO).
The team includes Brigadier General of Nepal Army (NA) Mahesh Karki,
and Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) of Nepal Police and Armed Police
Force Keshar Bahadur Shahi and Singha Bahadur Shrestha respectively.
This is the first time incumbent security officers are visiting the
Maoist combatant cantonments.
The team is also likely to consult the arms monitors commissioned by
United Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) at the cantonments. The initial
process of transferring the cantonment management and monitoring is
also likely to take place today.
Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had telephoned Prime Minister
Madhav Kumar Nepal and discussed about the handing over of management
and monitoring of the cantonments Saturday morning.
