Former King's granny passes way

Grandmother of former Kings Gyanendra Shah and Birendra Shah, Sarala Manandhar, has died at the age of 91 in Kathmandu, Sunday. Manandhar was late King Tribhuvan Shah's mistress. She was living with former Queen mother Ratna Rajya Laxmi Shah at the Royal Palace-turned museum Narayanhiti. She was suffering from diabetes since a long time. She was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat on Sunday.

Police raided various Guest Houses in Banepa and arrested 26 persons while having sex or in sex-oriented positions, reports say. Five couples were arrested from Chandika, Chandeshwari, Valley and Welcome Guest House of Banepa while having sex. Police ask for Red Light area in Kathmandu

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has recommended to the government to work out the necessary regulations and stipulate a Red Light Area in Kathmandu to curb sex related crimes.  Speaking at a press conference called to inform journalists of the the campaign Kathmandu police is launching to control sex related crime and illegal sexual activities in Kathmandu, Kathmandu police chief SP Ramesh Kharel said, illegal sexual activities and sex related crime would reduce a lot if a commercial sex was defined by some regulations and designated at some specific places.  Kharel also said, Kathmandu police had intensified operation against illegal sexual activities. It has keep some areas like Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Buspark and Gongabu as hot areas and started keeping vigil in suspicious places.  Commercial sex is being operated in Kathmandu in the veil of massage parlours, dance and cabin restaurents, hotels and guest house and by taking an independent flat.
