Student Unions submit memorandum to TU VC against fee hike

About a dozen student unions affiliated to various political parties have submitted a joint memorandum to Vice Chancellor of Tribhunvan University Madhav Raj Sharma Tuesday afternoon demanding the withdrawal of recent decision to hike tuition fees by up to ten times.

The student unions have issued an ultimatum of 72 hours for the varsity to revoke its decision and warned of agitation against the university if the decision is not revoked till then.

TU had revised its fee structure changing the existing Rs 61/70 a month fee to Rs 500/700 a month for Bachelors and Masters Level respectively.

The student unions have said, the decision of the fee hike is impractical and unsceintific which prevents the access of the poor to further education.

The student unions are organising an interaction at the TU auditorium hall with stakeholders and experts in the field of education.
