Thapa likely to be unanimous NRNA president
Ram Pratap Thapa is likely to become the unanimous president of Non-Resident Nepali Association, according to a senior NRN official.
At a meeting held late evening, Sunday, Bhim Udas and Dev Man Hirachan, who had announced their candidacy for the post for NRNA president, agreed to withdraw their candidacy to make the election unanimous.
NRNA has a tradition of electing its executive committee unanimously. Earlier, incumbent president Upendra Mahato had been elected president unanimously thrice.
NRNA provisions bar a person from being a candidate for president more than three times.
The fourth global conference of NRNA is beginning in Kathmandu on Tuesday. NRNA has its chapters in 55 countries.
