Nepal's freedom fighter Cheej Kumar Shrestha dies
Nepali Congress senior leader and president of Nepal's Freedom Fighters Association Cheej Kumar Shrestha has died at the age of 84 at his Bharatpur residence, Saturday morning.
Shrestha was suffering from cancer since a long time. He died at 4 am, today.
Shrestha started his political career from his birthplace in Bandipur, Tanahun. He was active during the agitation against Rana Oligarchy before 1951 as well as anti-Panchayat movement after 1961. He was jailed several times during the course of agitations.
Shrestha’s last rites will be performed at Devghat, on the banks of Narayani River, Saturday afternoon. His body will be kept at NC district office Chitwan for last tributes.
NC leaders including acting president Sushil Koirala have will participate in Shrestha's last rites.
