Home minister, IGPs leave for Singapore

Home minister Bhim Rawal and Inspector General of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Ramesh Chand Thakuri and Sanat Kumar Basnet, respectively, have left for Singapore to participate in the 78th general assembly of International Police Organisation (Interpol), Saturday.

Minister Rawal and IGP Thakuri will address the assembly. The assembly will take place from October 11 – 15. Various issues on mitigating international and cross-border crime will be discussed during the assembly.

Five couples were arrested from Chandika, Chandeshwari, Valley and Welcome Guest House of Banepa while having sex. Police ask for Red Light area in Kathmandu

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has recommended to the government to work out the necessary regulations and stipulate a Red Light Area in Kathmandu to curb sex related crimes.  Speaking at a press conference called to inform journalists of the the campaign Kathmandu police is launching to control sex related crime and illegal sexual activities in Kathmandu, Kathmandu police chief SP Ramesh Kharel said, illegal sexual activities and sex related crime would reduce a lot if a commercial sex was defined by some regulations and designated at some specific places.  Kharel also said, Kathmandu police had intensified operation against illegal sexual activities. It has keep some areas like Thamel, Sorhakhutte, Naya Buspark and Gongabu as hot areas and started keeping vigil in suspicious places.  Commercial sex is being operated in Kathmandu in the veil of massage parlours, dance and cabin restaurents, hotels and guest house and by taking an independent flat.
