BPKIHS docs call off strike

Agitating doctors of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan have called off their strike from Sunday after two persons who manhandled doctors at the emergency ward of the hospital last week apologized in public.


The doctors had halted all but emergency services at the hospital demanding security and action against the culprits after attendants of one Dil Maya Tamang, who was brought to the hospital for treatment last
Monday, attacked Dr Kumud Limbu and Dr Mohammad Farid Amatullah, accusing the doctors of delaying the treatment.





Tamang duo apologised for the attacks at a meeting of all stakeholders held at the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Strategies to prevent attacks against doctors and hospital staff were unveiled at the meeting. A task force formed after the incident last week had prepared the strategies.

Hundreds of patients of the eastern region had been affected due to the strike of the doctors.
