Metro police launches special security plan for festivals
Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range has launched a special security plan to curb crime in capital Kathmandu during the Dashain and Tihar festivals.
Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu Friday, Kathmandu metropolitan police chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Nava Raj Silwal said, police will step up security and increase vigil during the festivals so that people can celebrate the festivals without fear and free of criminal activities.
According to SP Silwal, 4000 policemen will be deployed for security in Kathmandu with 40 Control Room Vehicles (CRV) and 50 police pickets.
The metropolitan police also plan to deploy policemen in plain clothes in places where more financial transactions take place.
Criminal activities including burglary, looting and assault increase during the festival season every year as many people living in Kathmandu go back to the villages to celebrate Dashain.
