CA chairman, parliamentary delegation in Geneva to attend IPU assembly

A parliamentary delegation led by Constituent Assembly (CA) chairman Subash Chandra Nembang is in Geneva to participate in the 121st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to take place in Geneva from October 19 to 21.

Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, and other officials of the mission welcomed Nembang and his team.

UCPN (Maoist) chief whip Post Bahadur Bogati, Nepali Congress chief whip Laxman Ghimire, CPN (UML) chief whip Bhim Acharya and CA members Bishwa Prasad Yadav and Rukmini Chaudhary have accompanied CA chairman Nembang to the IPU assembly.

CA chairman and his team will share experience on parliamentary democracy and Nepal's constitution-drafting process with representatives of different countries at the assembly.

Besides attending the plenary of the Assembly, the delegation is will also participate in three thematic panels dedicated to transnational organised crimes, Millennium Development Goals and the role of youth in democratic process.

The delegation is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the Speaker of the German Parliament, Bundestag, and the Swiss Parliamentary delegation. The delegation will return to Kathmandu on Oct 23.
