Govt to compensate victims of conflict; forms panel to make recommendations

The government has decided to provide compensation to victims of conflict including those who lost their family members, became disabled or lost property.

A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar Sunday decided to form a task force led by peace minister Rakam Chemjong to study the extent of the damages and recommend appropriate compensation for the victims of conflict.

The six-member panel includes representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Home Affairs, Local Development, and Women and Children’s Welfare.
