Nepali Congress final CWC

As the vote counting of Nepali Congress (NC) CWC draws a close, the final shape of the CWC has become quite clear.  The general convention has elected the president, a general secretary, a treasurer and 61 CWC members. The party president will now nominate a vice president, a general secretary and a deputy general secretary from among the 61 elected CWC members.  He will also nominate 21 CWC members with at least one Madhesi, Muslim, Woman, Dalit and Mongol each.  His nominations need to be passed by the elected CWC. Looking at the trend and newly elected president Sushil Koirala's nature, I have compiled a list of full NC CWC.  Have a look.  Vice president          - Ram Chandra Paudel General Secretary          - Arjun Narsingh KC Deputy General Secretary    - Sujata Koirala CWC members  1.  Sher Bahadur Deupa 2.  Bhim Bahadur Tamang  3.  Bimalendra Nidhi 4.  Narhari Acharya 5.  Shobhakar Parajuli 6.  Pradip Paudel 7.  Jeewanprem Shrestha 8.  Taranath Ranabhat 9.  Chak...

President not happy at army chief's active parleys on UNMIN term

President Ram Baran Yadav has expressed his dissatisfaction over the active parleys held by Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Chhatraman Singh Gurung about not the term of United Missions in Nepal (UNMIN). It has been revealed the President had called PM Nepal to talk on the army chief's activity on Thursday. He has asked PM Nepal not to involve the army in controversial issues and solve such issues politically. PM Nepal told the President he had asked the army chief to hold discussions as he had already resigned from the post and was only a caretaker Prime Minister. However, the President berated him saying he should take the responsibility as long as he is in the post even though he has already resigned.

Paudel in mood to stay neutral at the general convention

Unable to decide whom – Sher Bahadur Deuba or Sushil Koirala – to support for the post of party president, Nepali Congress (NC) vice president Ram Chandra Paudel is contemplating staying neutral at the up coming general conventions of the party. Paudel is in a mood to stay neutral as he is faced with an anomaly about supporting a particular faction. Paudel is considered to be close to acting President Koirala, and it is quite certain that he will support Koirala if he has to choose between the two. However, Paudel is caught in a moral dilemma as he was proposed by Deuba as a candidate for the post of the Prime Minister. Deuba, who had also claimed stake for the candidacy for PM withdrew at the last moment for the sake of Paudel. Paudel himself was considered a presidential candidate in the party before the prime ministerial race began. He is still a hopeful candidate for party president in the upcoming general convention. So, he does not want to make any foes in the party. His close ai...
